Testing Smoke/CO alarms

Testing Smoke/CO alarms

Smoke/CO alarms are sensitive to grease and dust and should be vacuumed, or blown out with compressed air,  once per year.

To test an alarm, press the button in the center of the alarm. It should sound for about a minute or two and then reset.

To check expiry dates requires unlatching the alarm from the base (attached to the ceiling) and looking on the back. It should have an expiry date label.
